AbbVie’s seven Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) enrich our workplace by promoting awareness and appreciation of our diversity, and supporting people of all backgrounds to develop and thrive within the organization. The AbbVie Foundation provides $700,000 in funding annually for ERG community grants to nonprofit organizations that advance our ERG values and align with our mission to advance health equity. A total of 28 awardees (four awardees per AbbVie ERG) will receive a $25,000 general mission grant from the AbbVie Foundation. 

Who can apply:

  • Organizations must be based and operate in the United States as a 501(c)(3) public charity, and preference is given to organizations working with communities near AbbVie U.S. locations.
  • All organizations applying for grants are subject to charity vetting to thoroughly assess the nonprofit's financials, alignment with AbbVie ERG affinity areas, and AbbVie Foundation priorities and more.
  • Organizations may only submit one application and are eligible to receive one grant in 2024. 

We do not fund:

  • Organizations that have been in existence less than one (1) year and do not have at least one (1) year of tax filing.
  • Fraternal, political, labor, athletic or social organizations, civic club candidates or projects.
  • Sponsorships, prizes for events such as conferences, festivals, dinners, sports competitions, art exhibits, fundraisers (e.g. dinners, galas, walk/runs/relays, golf tournaments and auctions).
  • Organizations that discriminate based on age, race, ethnicity, color, gender, gender identity, gender expression, disability, creed or religion, national origin, marital or parental status, sexual orientation, military status, or political or union ideology or affiliation.

Grant Requirements: 

Nonprofit organizations interested in the ERG community grants should be aligned with one of the affinity areas associated with AbbVie’s ERGs and AbbVie Foundation’s mission to advance health equity through the Social Determinants of Health. Nonprofits may select up to two (2) ERGs that align with their mission. 

AbbVie Employee Resource Groups and their affinity areas include: 

  • AbbVie Pride: Supporting the LGBTQIA+ community.
  • Ability at AbbVie: Advancing disability inclusion for people with disabilities or caregivers of people with disabilities.
  • AHORA (Hispanic / Latino): Empowering and cultivating the Hispanic/Latinx community.
  • Asian Leadership Network: Empowering the Asian community including awareness of cultural values, heritages, and traditions.
  • Black Business Network: Empowering, developing and advancing opportunities within the Black community.
  • Women Leaders in Action: Empowering women to reach their full potential, amplifying skills and voices to promote personal and professional success.
  • Veterans: Supporting Veterans, families of Veterans, and Veteran community outreach.

 Grant Process: 

  • Application Period: Proposals will be accepted from nonprofit organizations beginning on April 1, 2024 and closing on April 30, 2024 at 11:59PM CT.  
  • Review Process: Applications will be reviewed by the AbbVie Foundation and AbbVie ERG grant committees. Grant applicants may select up to 2 ERGs to review their proposals.

  • Next Steps: Grant recipients will be notified of their award in July 2024. If selected, grant awardees will be required to submit additional information into Cybergrants for final grant payment and terms.
